Guides

Choose an AstroCarto guide for the task you want to finish: resolve a problem, choose places, research a shared move, investigate timing, or understand a report. Start with what you already have and the question still unanswered. You can enter the relevant workflow directly; you do not need to read every guide in order.

Which guide matches the task in front of me?

Before you start, identify the person or people, the destination or candidate list if you have one, and the result you want next. A missing input, a locked action, and an interpretation question need different responses.

Your situationStart hereWhat the guide should help you finish
Something is wrong, missing, locked, or will not downloadCommon guidesIdentify whether the problem concerns input, visible results, a saved object, a file, or access; take the first appropriate action and know what to check before continuing.
You want to discover places, check one city, or compare candidatesChoose and compare placesChoose the workflow for your starting point, keep the same birth details and goal, and turn the resulting evidence into a shortlist for further investigation.
Two people need to research destinations togetherShared placesPrepare both birth records, select shared discovery, a city check, or a comparison, and read joint findings alongside each person's support and cautions.
You have a destination and want to investigate when to moveMove timingKeep the chosen city and goal fixed, read timing windows and limitations, and relate them to work, housing, and other actual dates.
You need to choose, understand, question, or keep a reportReports and interpretationSelect the report for your question, read its conclusions and evidence, check what context an AI follow-up receives, and keep the correct document.

For example, “Paris or Lisbon for career?” belongs in place selection when the input is ready. If the birth time in the map is wrong, resolve that input problem first, then compare the cities using the corrected details. If a comparison already answers the question, you can stop there; use the report guide when you need a fuller document or help interpreting it.

A shared destination and a moving date are also separate questions. Researching two people's cities does not by itself produce a joint moving date. Choose the shared-place guide for the destination, then the timing guide when you have an appropriate city and a specific timing question.

Do I need a concept explained or instructions for a feature?

A workflow guide connects steps around a task. Use the following resources when the question is narrower:

You need to understand…UseWhat to take back to your task
The meaning of lines, planets, angles, or other astrocartography conceptsAstrocartography guidesThe relevant concept and its limitations, so you can interpret the evidence in your own result. General meanings do not establish a personal city verdict.
How a specific AstroCarto feature works and what it producesFeaturesThe matching function tutorial, its input requirements, output reading, and next action. This is useful when you know which feature you want.

Keep the original question beside the guide. When you return to a map or report, confirm the same person, cities, goal, and input version where relevant. A different result may belong to a different selection rather than a failed workflow. If you remain blocked, use Contact support in the Help sidebar and describe the action and the message you see.

Generate your map when you are ready to start a place-research workflow, or choose the guide for a result you already have.
