AstroCarto or AstroMatrix: which should you pick?

Choose AstroCarto to turn location research into a plan

For choosing between real destinations, we recommend starting with AstroCarto. Suppose Paris, Berlin, and Lisbon are on your career shortlist. Compare Cities puts their order, supporting signals, and cautions together. The cross-goal matrix helps you examine whether a promising career option looks different for relationships or home life. A Full AI City Comparison Report explains the evidence and trade-offs, with a PDF to keep.

If you have no shortlist, Find My Best Places ranks candidates by goal and region, with reasons to investigate each city. A Personal Astrocartography Report brings priority places, city deep dives, and five life themes into a broader assessment. Ask AI about the result you are reading, then continue into shared-place or moving-time research when another person or a date becomes part of your decision.

Choose AstroMatrix to connect relocation with your other charts

AstroMatrix combines planetary-line city lists, relocation charts, and single-city reports with theme ratings and action plans. It also offers Location Comparison for multiple cities. Choose it when you want to study relocation alongside natal, relationship, and transit charts. If you want to weigh a career shortlist against home or relationship priorities, we recommend AstroCarto: read the cities' order and cross-goal trade-offs together, keep the explanation in a comparison report, then ask about the signals behind your choice.

Features at a glance

Start with the output you need: candidate places, a comparison, a report, or an explanation you can follow up on. Related chart tools are described by the questions they address, so you can distinguish relationship analysis from shared-place research, for example. Interface: researching the same city

Consider Paris alongside Berlin and Lisbon for your career. Both examples below use a fictional birth date of January 15, 1990, at 12:00 in London. AstroCarto shows the three-city comparison; AstroMatrix shows cities near the sample's planetary lines and provides a report for Paris.

AstroCarto

Generate your map, add the three cities to Compare Cities, and select Career & recognition. Read their order, supporting signals, and cautions together, then use the cross-goal matrix to examine your other priorities.

Continue into a Full AI City Comparison Report for the reasoning behind the result. You can also ask a question with the comparison context attached: “Why is Lisbon close to the top but still mixed?” Check City and In-Depth Location Readings let you investigate the signals around one destination more closely.

AstroMatrix

Open Astrocartography, select Cities, and choose Sun and Europe. The list groups cities under MC, IC, ASC, and DSC lines. In this sample, Paris appears in the Sun–MC group with an On line label, alongside Carcassonne, Saint-Denis, Savigny-sur-Orge, and Villejuif.

Open Paris's Report and return to it in Journal. The relocation report assesses Wellness, Roots, Career, Love, and Transformation, explains the chart factors, and ends with an action plan. For this sample, Career is A and the overall assessment is B. These are single-city ratings, separate from the three-city ranking in AstroCarto.

The AstroCarto screenshot puts Paris, Lisbon, and Berlin into one career comparison: Paris has the clearest support, while Lisbon is close behind but also the most mixed. The AstroMatrix screenshot lists five cities on this sample's Sun–MC line; it is a city-discovery result, not a ranking of those three destinations. To narrow a fixed shortlist, use AstroCarto's comparison report to investigate the trade-offs, then ask about the signals behind a close choice. Create your own map for results based on your birth details.

Features: what happens after you find a place?

AstroCarto

Find My Best Places turns a goal and region into a ranked shortlist of up to ten cities. Review each candidate's supporting evidence and trade-offs, then bring two to four realistic options into Compare Cities. The Full AI City Comparison Report explains that group and gives you a PDF to revisit when narrowing your choice.

A Personal Astrocartography Report covers a wider location picture: priority places, city deep dives, career and money, love and partnership, home and community, wellbeing and growth, and travel and exploration. Its interactive evidence map and birth-time and house-system sensitivity checks help you investigate what the assessment rests on. Keep the PDF, then ask AI about specific findings with the completed report attached.

The complete personal report example shows why this matters. Orlando leads the overall place portfolio, yet its assessment is Mixed. Supporting Jupiter ASC evidence appears alongside cautions and conflicts. Being a leading candidate does not remove those trade-offs; the report makes them available for closer inspection. This is a separate synthetic example from the Paris comparison above.

When a partner is involved, Find the Best Places for Two People shows shared support and each person's cautions, including where their needs differ. Once a destination is in focus, Best Time to Move examines that city and your goal over a chosen time range. You can continue from a shortlist into the people and timing questions that affect your plans.

AstroMatrix

AstroMatrix lets you continue from relocation into the relationship or timing questions behind a move. Relationship Matrix combines Synastry and Composite into themes such as emotional values and power dynamics, with supportive and difficult factors. Transit tools let you inspect a date or range against your natal chart. These outputs help you study the relationship itself and the patterns active during a period.

When the next question is about a destination—whose needs have more support in Lisbon, or which periods deserve attention there—start with AstroCarto's shared-place and moving-time tools. They take the people, city, and goal into account and expose the support and cautions you need to examine. For your original shortlist, keep the city-comparison report and ask AI to explain the evidence behind its ranking.

Create your astrocartography map

Have your birth date, birth time, and original birth city ready. Generate your map, then check a city, find candidates, compare places, or create a report. Add the second person's birth details for shared-place research; select a city and goal for moving dates.

Frequently asked questions

How is a personal report different from a city comparison?

Compare Cities organizes two to four places you choose around one goal; its Full AI City Comparison Report expands the reasoning for those cities. A Personal Astrocartography Report brings priority places, detailed city assessments, five life themes, and an evidence map into a broader report. Choose based on whether you have a fixed shortlist or want to explore a wider location picture.

Do I need an AstroMatrix chart to use AstroCarto?

No. Start with your own birth date, time, and birthplace in AstroCarto. It creates a new map from those details. The workflow here does not import an AstroMatrix chart, report, or saved city list.

Why might the maps or readings look different?

Check the birth time, time zone, location coordinates, selected lines, and type of result. For relocation charts, also check the house system: AstroCarto's separate calculator uses Whole Sign; AstroMatrix's standalone web calculator uses Placidus, while its web app offers eight systems, including Whole Sign. City detection near a line and a goal-based shortlist also organize places differently. Different houses or rankings alone do not establish an error.

How does AI use my chart or report?

AstroCarto can attach calculated map evidence, a city comparison, or a completed personal report to follow-up questions. For example, ask why Lisbon ranks close to Paris but has more mixed signals. With the comparison attached, the question refers to that result; with a completed personal report attached, you can examine its city evidence and cautions. Use the explanation to identify what to investigate next. It does not guarantee what will happen in a place.

Where should I start if I have no candidate cities yet?

Choose a goal and region in AstroCarto's Find My Best Places to get a ranked shortlist with reasons and cautions. AstroMatrix's Cities view also finds destinations near planetary lines, with planet and continent filters. If you want a research order tied to a goal such as career or home life, start with AstroCarto, then examine the candidates that fit your real-world options.

AstroCarto vs AstroMatrix: which should I use for a city shortlist?

Both products support multiple-city research. We recommend AstroCarto when you want to read two to four cities' ranking, support, cautions, and cross-goal trade-offs together. Open a Full AI City Comparison Report to examine the reasoning, then ask follow-up questions or keep the PDF. Use those findings alongside your own research into housing, work, and travel.
