AstroCarto vs Genetic Matrix for Astrocartography

Start with AstroCarto if you are choosing where to live or travel and want to turn location research into a shortlist. Compare cities around your goal, read the support and cautions behind their order, and ask follow-up questions about the result. This helps you decide which places deserve a closer look, including promising cities with mixed signals.

Genetic Matrix combines Human Design and astrology, with Astro HD Relocation among its tools. Its charts, relationship reports, and timing research serve a broader set of questions about your design and astrological patterns. This comparison focuses on choosing places: moving from an interest in a location to candidates, city-by-city trade-offs, and questions you can investigate further.

AstroCarto or Genetic Matrix: which should you pick?

Choose AstroCarto to turn location research into a plan

For a decision between real destinations, start with AstroCarto. Suppose you are considering Paris, Berlin, and Lisbon for your career. Compare Cities puts their order, supporting signals, and cautions in one result. Its cross-goal matrix helps you examine other priorities, while a Full AI City Comparison Report explains the evidence and trade-offs for the group. Keep the PDF and continue asking questions as you narrow your options.

If you have no shortlist, Find My Best Places ranks candidates by goal and region. A Personal Astrocartography Report brings priority places, city deep dives, five life themes, and an evidence map into a broader reading. Add a partner or a moving date when those questions matter, and continue with shared-place or timing research.

Interface: researching a city shortlist

Consider Paris alongside Berlin and Lisbon for your career. AstroCarto's example uses fictional birth details—January 15, 1990, at 12:00 in London—to show how one result can help you investigate a close choice.

AstroCarto

Generate your map, add the three cities to Compare Cities, and select Career & recognition. Read their order, supporting signals, and cautions together. Then use the cross-goal matrix to examine Home & emotional stability or Relationships & belonging. A clear career signal does not automatically answer those other questions.

Continue into a Full AI City Comparison Report for the reasoning behind the result. With the comparison context attached, ask, “Which signals support Lisbon for my career, and which cautions should I investigate before choosing it over Paris?” You can also inspect a destination with Check City or In-Depth Location Readings before returning to the shortlist.

Genetic Matrix

Start with a destination you want to investigate in Astro HD Relocation. The historical result below pairs natal and relocated houses and angles with Human Design information, giving you chart details to interpret for that place. Genetic Matrix’s broader chart workspace also includes interactive charts, callouts, and personal transit calendars for continued research.

Paris has the clearest career support in this result, with Sun MC identified as its main supportive line. Lisbon is close behind but also has the most mixed signals. That gives you a specific next step: inspect Lisbon's cautions and check your other priorities before treating the two cities as equally promising.

In the Genetic Matrix example, the Personality Sun stays in Taurus while its house changes from 8 to 2 between Dapitan and Pineville; the Personality Ascendant changes from Libra to Aries. Those changes give you specific placements to interpret for Pineville. When your next question is how several destinations compare for your career, use AstroCarto to examine their order, support, and cautions together, then ask about the reasons behind the result.

Features: what happens after you find a place?

AstroCarto

Find My Best Places turns a goal and region into up to ten ranked candidates. Review their reasons, then bring two to four realistic options into Compare Cities. A Full AI City Comparison Report keeps the reasoning for that group together: why the order matters, where each city has support, and which trade-offs deserve closer attention. Save the PDF as a reference while you narrow the list.

A Personal Astrocartography Report has a wider scope: priority places, city deep dives, five life themes, an interactive evidence map, and birth-time and house-system sensitivity checks. The complete personal report example shows why even a leading city needs examination. Orlando leads its place portfolio, but its assessment is Mixed; supporting Jupiter ASC evidence sits alongside cautions and conflicts. Use those factors to ask what needs closer attention. This is a separate synthetic example from the Paris comparison.

When a partner is involved, check the destination for both people. Find the Best Places for Two People separates shared support from each person's challenges, so your result does not stand in for theirs. Once a city is selected, Best Time to Move examines that city, your goal, and a 3-, 6-, or 12-month window. Review its periods and cautions alongside your actual moving constraints.

Genetic Matrix

Genetic Matrix's Connection Report explores a relationship through Human Design, including each person's environment preferences. One example contrasts Mountains and Valleys categories. That can frame a question about the settings each person prefers, but those categories are not named-city recommendations. When your question becomes “Lisbon or Berlin for both of us?”, use AstroCarto to examine each person's calculated support and cautions in those destinations.

Cycle reports and personal transit calendars provide timing research. Talking Charts let you listen to recorded explanations of chart elements. If that research leaves you deciding between cities, create your AstroCarto map and compare those destinations. Then ask why one city has stronger support or more cautions, with your AstroCarto comparison attached as context.

Create your astrocartography map

Have your birth date, birth time, and birth city ready. Generate your map, then check a city, find candidates, compare places, or create a report. Add the second person's birth details for shared-place research; choose a city and goal for moving-time research.

Start with the question you have

Create your map from your birth details, then follow the question you need to resolve:

  • “I know the kind of environment I want, but which cities should I investigate?” Create your map, open Find My Best Places, and choose a goal and region. Review the candidates and their trade-offs, then use your own preferences and practical constraints to narrow the list.
  • “Paris, Berlin, or Lisbon—and what would I gain or give up?” Create your map, add the three cities to Compare Cities, and select your goal. Read the support and cautions, check other priorities in the matrix, and open a Full AI City Comparison Report for the reasoning.
  • “We understand our relationship, but where could work for both of us?” Create your map, open Find the Best Places for Two People, and add the second person's birth details. Explore shared candidates or compare your options, looking at each person's support and cautions separately.
  • “I have a city in mind. When should I investigate moving?” Create your map, open Best Time to Move, and select the city, goal, and time range. Review the windows alongside your actual work, housing, and travel constraints.

Frequently asked questions

How is a personal report different from a city comparison?

Compare Cities organizes two to four places you choose around one goal; its Full AI City Comparison Report expands the reasoning for that group. A Personal Astrocartography Report brings priority places, detailed assessments, five life themes, and an evidence map into a broader reading. Choose based on whether you have a fixed shortlist or want to investigate a wider location picture.

Do I need a Genetic Matrix chart to use AstroCarto?

No. Start with your birth date, time, and birthplace in AstroCarto. It creates a new map from those details. This workflow does not import a Genetic Matrix chart or report, and it does not calculate a Human Design bodygraph or Environment type.

Why might the charts or readings look different?

First check which outputs you are comparing. Human Design gates, channels, and environment categories are not the same as geographic planetary lines, city evidence, or a ranked shortlist. A Human Design reading and an astrocartography result can therefore describe different things without contradicting each other.

For comparable astrology charts, check birth time, time zone, coordinates, calculation method, and house system. AstroCarto's separate relocation calculator uses Whole Sign houses, as does the historical Genetic Matrix example shown here. Genetic Matrix also offers multiple house systems for astrology chart research; match the settings available in the particular tool you are using. Different settings or interpretation methods do not by themselves establish an error or prove one product more accurate.

How does AI use my chart or report?

AstroCarto can attach calculated map evidence, a city comparison, or a completed personal report to follow-up questions. Ask why a city ranks highly, which signals conflict, or what to investigate next. Genetic Matrix's Talking Charts are recorded audio explanations of chart content, a different form of interpretation. Neither makes a reading a guarantee of what will happen in a place.

Where should I start if I have no candidate cities yet?

Choose a goal and region in Find My Best Places to get a ranked shortlist with reasons and cautions. If Human Design research has helped you articulate preferences, use those as your own checks when reviewing candidates. AstroCarto does not convert an Environment category into cities; it calculates its location results from your birth details and selected goal.

Which should I use if I already have several candidate cities?

Start with AstroCarto's Compare Cities to organize two to four places around the same goal. Open a Full AI City Comparison Report for the evidence and trade-offs behind their order, ask follow-up questions, and keep the PDF. If you are choosing together, use Find the Best Places for Two People to examine the candidates for both charts.
