Save and revisit places
Use My Places in AstroCarto to keep a shortlist of cities and return to them for another check or comparison. A saved place contains the destination, your goal label, and its status. It does not contain the birth details, map, report, or AI conversation you were viewing when you saved it.
How do I save a city?
Sign in to the account where you want to keep the shortlist. You can save an eligible city from Check City, City Comparison, or Find My Best Places results, or add a city directly in My Places. You do not need to generate a report just to build a destination list.
To add a city directly:
- Open My Places from your account menu and find Add a city.
- Enter a city name, then choose a search suggestion. Check its region and country; typing a name without selecting a verified result is not enough.
- Select Save place and wait for the saving state to finish.
- Find the city in your list. Check its full place label, goal, and status before moving on.
On an eligible result card, use Save beside the city. A successful result changes the action to Saved; its menu offers View My Places. If the city is already saved, use that existing entry rather than assuming another click creates a separate version of its reading. A sign-in prompt is a step toward saving, not confirmation that the city is already in your account.
For this teaching example, we saved Paris, France, confirming the French suggestion rather than another city named Paris. Its row showed Île-de-France · France, Just exploring, Considering, and Not checked yet. We changed its goal to Career, then added Lisbon, Portugal, leaving Lisbon under Just exploring. These are organizational labels: setting Career does not calculate a career score or establish that Paris is a good match.
The completion check is a saved city row that you can find again in the same account. The row is the destination for your next research task; it is not the answer to that task.
How do I use saved places in another reading?
Open My Places, locate the intended cities, and select their rows or selection controls. The next action depends on how many you select:
| Selection | Action | What you still need to check |
|---|---|---|
| One city | Check this place | Whose birth details to use, and whether the selected destination is correct. |
| Two to four cities | Compare places | One person's birth details, the complete city list, and the comparison goal. |
| More than four cities in your shortlist | Choose a smaller group for this comparison | Saving a larger shortlist does not make all cities part of one comparison. |
In the selection area, choose whose birth details to use. Select the appropriate person from Stored Astro Data, or keep Enter birth details next. Continue to the calculator and verify the loaded or newly entered birth information before generating the map. Selecting a city does not make that city the birthplace.
After the map is ready, confirm the destination in Check City or the cities and goal in Compare Cities. If your selected places have the same specific goal label, that goal can be suggested for the comparison; still verify it. A mixed set of labels does not answer which goal you now want to use. Starting a new check or comparison follows that workflow's own access conditions.
Here is how the Paris–Lisbon shortlist carries into the next task:
| Step in the example | Visible result | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Reopen My Places after saving both cities | Paris still has Career / Considering; Lisbon still has Just exploring / Considering | The destinations and their labels persisted. No birth record or report was needed to save them. |
| Select Paris alone | 1 selected and Check this place | The next task is a single-city check. |
| Select Lisbon as well | 2 selected and Compare places | Both destinations can be passed into one comparison. |
| Keep Enter birth details next, continue, then generate a map using the teaching input 15 January 1990, 12:15, London | The Compare Cities panel contains Paris and Lisbon under Selected cities, with Overall relocation fit selected | The handoff supplied the destinations. The mixed saved labels did not select Career for this comparison. |
The next action is to select Career & recognition, confirm both cities, and run Compare Cities if that is your question and you have the required access. Only then read the calculated support and cautions. The example above stops at the prepared comparison panel; it does not establish a winner. Career on a saved row is your reason for keeping the city, not evidence that it will rank first.
Follow Check a city or Compare cities for the calculation and result-reading steps. My Places supplies the destinations for those tasks; it does not reopen an old score or report.
How do I organize or remove saved places?
Use the goal and status controls on each city to describe your own research progress. They do not recalculate the city.
| Control | Available choices | Example use |
|---|---|---|
| Goal: Why this place? | Just exploring, Move, Career, Relationships, Home, Travel | Keep Paris under Career while researching work-related questions. |
| Status: Where are you with it? | Considering, Planning, Visited, Not for me | Move a city from Considering to Planning when you have actually begun planning; this is your decision, not an automatic product verdict. |
| Filter & sort | Search saved places; filter by goal/status; sort by Recent activity, Recently saved, or City name | Find the cities you marked Career without changing the saved list. |
If a city seems to vanish after changing its label, check the active filter. A Planning city will not appear in a Considering-only view. Use Reset to remove active filters and restore the default sort, and use Load more when the list offers it.
Saved tells you when the destination was added. Last checked or Not checked yet helps distinguish a saved candidate from a city used in a later research action. These labels are not links to a stored report or proof that every previous result remains available.
To remove one city, open its More actions menu and choose Remove place. Use Undo immediately if you chose the wrong row and the undo control is still visible. Do not leave the page expecting the temporary undo option to remain available indefinitely. Removing a place removes that shortlist entry; use the separate report or birth-data area for those other objects.
Clear all is different: its confirmation removes every saved place, not only the rows matching the current filter, and cannot be undone. To abandon the action, choose Keep places. You do not need to clear your list to change its sort order or start a different comparison.
Does saving a place keep the whole reading?
No. My Places keeps destinations and the goal/status labels you choose. A destination can be reused with different people and questions, so the saved city is deliberately separate from any one calculation.
| What you want to retain | Where it belongs | What the saved city cannot replace |
|---|---|---|
| Paris as a candidate, labeled Career and Considering | My Places | The city list is not a career recommendation. |
| The person's date, time, and birthplace | Stored Astro Data | Selecting Paris later does not restore that person's birth record by itself. |
| A completed report and its original conclusions | My Astrology Reports, where that report type is supported | A Paris row does not contain the report, its generation date, or all its evidence. |
| Your explanation of why a city matters | Your own research note | Goal and status are labels, not a free-form notebook. |
Use save and reuse birth details for the person record and saved data and results to locate reports, conversations, or downloaded files.
A practical note for the Paris–Lisbon exercise could be: “Saved both candidates; next compare them for Career with the same birth input; keep the full report separately if I generate one.” This is a suggested personal note, not an automatic field saved by My Places.
What should I check if a place is not saved or cannot be found?
| What happened | Check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Save place is unavailable after typing | Was a city suggestion selected? | Select the full city-and-country result again. |
| Saving asks you to sign in | Are you in the account where the list belongs? | Sign in, then verify the city appears in My Places; retry the selected city if necessary. |
| Saving fails after the result has been open for a while | Is the city selection still valid? | Search and select the city again, then retry once. |
| A saved city is missing | Search text, goal/status filters, account, and additional list pages | Use Reset and Load more where available; verify the correct account before adding another entry. |
| A changed goal or status reverts | Did the update show an error? | Keep the previous value as the saved value; retry when the connection is available. |
| The selection cannot be carried to the calculator | Did the browser report a selection or storage problem? | Return to My Places and reselect; check the browser's site-storage settings if the handoff message persists. |
| A selected place is no longer available | Was it removed after selection? | Choose a current saved city. A comparison needs at least two valid destinations. |
Saving, loading a shortlist, and running a calculation are separate stages. Follow the message for the stage that failed; an upgrade is not a general solution to an unselected city, a filter, or the wrong account.
